Optional Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu 7 Days / 6 Nights

This is a good alternative of trekking, unlike to the traditional Inca Trail. Salkantay mountain,  is the highest peak of the Vilcabamba mountain range, which is a part of the Peruvian Andes. The Salkantay has a rugged terrain with high peaks, snow-covered mountains and subtropical valleys.

Early pick up from your hotel to go by road towards Mollepata. From the tropical Mollepata valley, with its beautiful citrus groves, we will go to Choquekiclla, from here we will have the first views of the south face of Salkantay (6271 meters) and Humantay (6 217 meters). Our first camp of this night is Salkantay Pampa

After a delicious  breakfast. We will begin our trek of the day, this will be an adventurous journey, because we will cross the Salkantay Pampa to reach the highest point, Salkantay and Umantay path, imposing snowy located about 4,650 masl from where we can appreciate the majesty of the area.

After lunch and a deserved rest we will continue our journey to Huayrac where we will have indescribable views of the place and then proceed to our second camp in Chaullay, sector where we will spend the night.

Breakfast. This day will be unforgettable because we will see how the whole nature changes. We will go from snowy mountains, to interandean places with a variety of flora and fauna characteristic of this area, we will pass very close to the Andean Community Arranyanniyoc where we will begin to descend toward the edge of the jungle. We will see a small valley of hot spring formations that follow the course of Santa Teresa River. Due to  heat and humid, this area has formed a micro climate that orchids have taken full advantage of, which by their colors and variety have been cataloged by experts as the most beautiful in the world.

We will reach the zone called Lluskamayu, where we will take lunch, then will  continue our trek  for approximately 2:30 hours to get to our camp where we will have dinner and spend the night.

After breakfast at 7.30am we will start our hike to go to the archaeological remains of Llactapata, which go  through an of 2950 masl. Here we will also have a view over the mountains of Machu Picchu and other peaks in the area, we will enjoy a free time to rest.

Later we will descend to the hydroelectric plant (1870 m) in 2 hours approx. After lunch we will leave this zone at 3:20 p.m. to get Aguas Calientes village, this will take us 15 minutes aprox.  2.000 masl.

Optionally you can go to the thermal baths which are aprox.  at a distance of 1.2 kilometers from the village.  Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Very early and immediately after breakfast we will go on a bus to the citadel of Machu Picchu, ascending by the lapse of 20 minutes,  until reaching the point of access and control to Machupicchu where we will have a guided tour to  the urban and agricultural zone as well as towers, ceremonial squares, sacred spring, the seasonal Intihuatana oracle, and terraces from where the Inca domains.  We will  have enough time to contemplate and rest in the inca citadel.

After a guided tour of about 3 hours,  we will have free time to take pictures and in coordination with our guide we will descend to Aguas Calientes to take the train and go to the Cusco city and our hotel respectively.
